THE  AFRICA MEDIA & DEMOCRACY INSTITUTE ANNOUNCES THE ONE MILLION YOUTH ELECTION PEACE  PETITION campaign. The  programme provide the platform for the Ghanaian youth to register  their unanimous  voice for a peaceful elections devoid of violence before during and after the elections.  The campaign  is to  have  ONE MILLION GHANAIAN YOUTH  registering their concern through this petition.  The petition will be presented to all the major contesting presidential   candidate for the 2016 elections.  Objectives  programme are to:

  • Create a platform for Ghanaian youth to signal their unanimous and a non-partisan voice for peaceful elections before, during and after.
  • Secure a petition signed by one million Ghanaian youth to be presented to our collective political party leaders to endorse peace before, during and after elections.
  • To celebrate Ghana as one nation, one people.

This  programme is supported  by the National Youth Authority and the Ghana Youth Watch  along with other youth  organizations.  Democracy requires the active participation of citizens   and the role of the youth in the process is also critical  since the future of any nation is  invested in the youth.  It is therefore important for the Ghanaian youth to register their concern and impress on the collective political leadership of our nation their  sacred duty and  responsibility in ensuring sustainable peace. The Executive Director of  AFRICA MEDIA & DEMOCRACY INSTITUTE, Barima Adu-Asamoa  organizer’s of the event intimated “Democracy requires the active participation of citizens   and the role of the youth in the process is also critical  since the future of any nation is  invested in the youth.  It is therefore important for the Ghanaian youth to register their concern and impress on the collective political leadership of our nation their  sacred duty and  responsibility in ensuring sustainable peace.”

Five  (5) YOUTH AMBASSADORS are to spear head the programme and encouraging the   targeted ONE MILLION as well as engaging  selected media platforms  to sensitize the youth for peaceful elections.
